Northern Elders Forum, NEF, has issued a public warning against the move by some politicians to buy Permanent Voters Card (PVC) and financially lure some unsuspecting Nigerians to compromise their Voters Identification Number as an attempt to subdue votes in the region.

NEF’s Director of Publicity and Advocacy, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, in a statement issued on Wednesday, advised community leaders and major stakeholders on the dangers of disenfranchising large numbers of citizens.

He disclosed that they undertook investigations which prompted the public warning. The publicity secretary pinpointed that millions of Northern voters, particularly women are being made to surrender their PVCs for a t, in most instances not more than N2000.

However, Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) according to them assured NEF that the practice will not compromise its systems and processes.
