The Students Union Government, University of Nigeria Nsukka (SUG -UNN) has promised their “massive votes” to Labor Party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi come February general election, saying that they are proud of a “Super lion” like him.
This assurance came following Obi’s address to the students and others present at the town hall meeting held at Magareth Ekpo Ref. convocation hall, UNN on Thursday, January 12th 2023.
Represented by the President of the Union, Comr. Michael Abuchi, described the former Anambra state Governor as a super lion who has done the University proud in his endeavors.
“UNN students are proud of you and are ready to give you our massive support to ensure that you are elected in next month’s general election.
“Your coming today to interact with the student is an eloquent testimony of the volume of love you have for students who are feature leaders.
“We will not take for granted your visit today to give Nigeria students a sense of belonging, we promise you that on 25th February we will come out en mass to vote you to victory so that ASUU strike in universities will end and Nigeria will be better,” he said.
Meanwhile, the LP candidate had urged the students to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) ready to vote him into power. He promised to rescue Nigeria and moved it from consumption to production.
He added that his administration will prioritize education as no country develops more than its education level.
Obi also assured the students that if elected, his leadership will put an end to the incessant Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike that had been responsible for students spending more than their course years in universities.
The alumnus moreover said that the purpose of his visit was to inform students of his ambition and solicit their vote in the forthcoming general election, as well as to appeal to them to join LP in rescuing Nigeria.
“Our mission is to rescue Nigeria from those who have hijacked the leadership of this country, therefore you and all who believe that with good leadership Nigeria can work again are our structure,” he said.
Vickipedia News correspondent observed that despite some students still on Christmas and New Year holidays, they were over 10,000 students who came around to cheer him.
Sadly, security agencies had a tough time controlling the crowd as Obi had to be dragged personally by his pilot from the grips of the students, into his private helicopter.
Present during the meeting are, Chief Emeka Mamah, Enugu state LP Presidential Campaign Coordinator,Mr. Okey Ezea, LP’s Enugu North Senatorial candidate, Chief Chidi Obetta, LP House of Representatives candidate for Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency, among others.
