The governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Peter Mbah, ahead of the March 18 governorship election says if elected, he will invest massively in equipping state varsities.
Mbah said this in Nsukka on Wednesday, March 8, during a town hall meeting with University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) at Princess Alexandria Auditorium, to solicit for their votes. He said that, if elected his administration would give priority to education especially universities owned by the state.
“If I am elected as the new governor Enugu State on March 11, I will give priority to education especially state universities to ensure quality education. I will also collaborate with UNN in many ways to ensure the university maintains its number one university in the country.
“My administration will ensure that that the new state university of medicine and applied science (SUMAS) is well funded and well equipped in order to attract international students and scholars,”he said.

The governorship candidate urged the people of Enugu to avoid sentiment in voting during March 18 election but should vote for the candidate who had capacity, competent and most qualified than would make the state top three best states in the country.
”My mission is to move the state from public sector driven economy to private driven economy . If I am elected before the end of my four years tenure, Enugu will be among the top three best states in the country,”he said.
Mbah identified poverty and unemployment as the root causes of insecurity in Enugu State and promised that his administration would boost the economy of the state to create massive employment and eradicate poverty.”My administration will harness numerous mineral resources in the state that have remained unharnessed to create more employment and eradicate poverty. Findings have shown that unemployment and poverty are root causes of insecurity,”he said.
The governorship candidate said that, if elected he would consolidate on the achievements of Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi since government is a continuity. “If I am elected as the new governor of Enugu State I will consolidate on the outgoing governor’s achievements since government is a continuity. Enugu State under my watch will be investors destination point,” he said.
Earlier, Prof Oguejiofo Ujam, a member of UNN Academia Group that organised the event, urged Enugu State resident to vote Mbah to victory since he is the most competent among guber candidates in March 18 governorship general election.
